Dakota Kai Says She Won’t Be Cleared To Compete Until January 2024
Dakota Kai says she won’t be able to wrestle for a few more months.
Dakota Kai has been out of action with a torn ACL since May; she suffered the injury on the May 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, and she subsequently had surgery. Kai appeared at WWE SummerSlam, where her Damage CTRL stablemate IYO SKY won the WWE Women’s Championship. Kai has made multiple appearances since then, but she has not gotten physical.
On her Twitch stream, a fan asked Kai when she will wrestle again. She noted that she will not be cleared until January 2024. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)
“Probably 2024. I do think it’s funny that a lot of people are like, ‘she’s not injured at all. Look at her walking around.’ ACL injury, I haven’t even learned how to start running and jumping again yet. I think I’m going to start running this week.
“ACL recovery, especially for someone in sport, we use our legs a lot. If I were a desk worker, I’d be back at work. Because it’s wrestling, I won’t be cleared until January.”
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
