Houston County School Calendar for the 2025-2026 school year has been revealed
For the second straight year, Houston County students will start the school year in late July
HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — While Houston County’s 2024-2025 school year is still a month and a half away, the Houston County School District announced the plans for the 2025-2026 school year.
So even before students head back to the classroom, the school district is looking ahead to the school year after this.
Like this year, the school semester will start in July, specifically on July 30, 2025, and will end on Dec. 19, 2025. The spring semester will start on Jan. 5, 2026, and the school year will end on May 20.
Then, after the year wraps up, graduation will be held the week before Memorial Day on May 22 and May 23, 2026.
In previous years, the school semester started towards the beginning of August, rather than the end of July. However, between the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years, the school district appears to be making a shift towards starting earlier.
There will be two distance learning days, with one happening each semester. One will be held on Sept. 2, 2025, and the other will be on Feb. 17, 2026. Both of these correspond with holidays — Labor Day and Presidents Day respectively — giving students and faculty a four-day weekend.
The school calendar will give students a week off in October and the end of March through the beginning of April for fall and spring break, respectively. Fall break will run from Oct. 6, through Oct. 10, 2025. Spring break will run from March 30, 2026, through April 3, 2026.
There will be several teacher workdays, with some falling during the school year. These include Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, and Monday, April 6, 2026. Both of these correspond with the fall and spring break, respectively.
Teachers will also have workdays a week before the start of the school year, the Friday before the start of the spring semester and two days after the final day of the school year.
As usual, students will receive a week off for Thanksgiving and two weeks off for Christmas and New Year’s. Thanksgiving break will run from Nov. 24 to Nov. 28, 2025. The Christmas and New Year’s break will run from Dec. 22, 2025, through Jan. 2, 2026. Faculty will return to school on Jan. 2.
