I like receiving practical gifts that will be used, and for those of us who prefer physical calendars to keep our lives organized, there are lots of quality options.

If you enjoy beautiful nature images while being organized, you will appreciate the Ansel Adams 2024 Engagement Calendar. This extraordinary calendar features 53 reproduced black-and-white photographs from the landscape photographer and environmentalist. The photos in the calendar were taken between 1925 and 1968, with many occurring in California, as well as in national parks.

A few of the images that I particularly liked included Vernal and Nevada Falls and the High Sierra in Yosemite National Park, Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park, Mount Robson in Mount Robson Provincial Park in British Columbia, as well as Denali and Wonder Lake in Denali Park and Preserve in Alaska.

Each image is complemented with a lined area for each day of the week where you can record appointments, reminders and notes. The phases of the moon are also included, along with some significant days and holidays. The back of the calendar features a month-at-a-glance with each month of 2024 on its own page, as well as January and February 2025. There is also a page for each of the 2024 and 2025 calendars. When 2024 is over, this beautiful calendar will make a nice keepsake.

National Parks 2024: Weekly Planner

Rock Point

2023, 240 pages

ISBN: 9781631069581

Another excellent engagement calendar/weekly planner to help keep you organized in 2024 (this one actually begins in July 2023) is National Parks 2024: Weekly Planner. This calendar featuring national parks in the U.S. is a little different from most in that it is a hardcover and features illustrations as opposed to photographs.

Each month begins with a beautiful illustration of the national park represented, along with some interesting information about the park. There is also a month-at-a-glance that includes moon phases and holidays. Park information on location, climate, biodiversity, common wildlife, recreation and notable attractions is also included. The week-at-a-glance sections offer considerable space to write down appointments, reminders and similar information. Scattered throughout the book are interesting facts about the parks.

At the back of the book are five pages for notes, while the front of the book contains a year-at-a-glance for both 2024 and 2025. A ribbon bookmark and an elastic to keep the calendar closed are also included.

The national parks featured are: Glacier, Yellowstone, Great Smoky Mountains, Kenai Fjords, Zion, Everglades, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Mount Rainier, Voyageurs, Death Valley, Acadia, Mammoth Cave, Redwood, Hawaii Volcanoes, Virgin Islands.

Audubon Engagement Calendar 2024

Workman Publishing

2023, 128 pages

ISBN: 9781523519101

Another quality nature calendar is the Audubon Engagement Calendar 2024. Filled with 56 colour photographs of animals, plants and scenic landscapes, the calendar features considerable space to record appointments and make notes on each page that covers a week in the year. Phases of the moon and holidays are included.

The back of the calendar features two pages of a “Bird Log,” calendars for 2024, 2023 and 2025, as well as three lined pages for notes.

Some of the photographs that I found particularly stunning included the Temblor Range in California, Namibia’s NamibRand Nature Reserve, a common loon in Montana’s Kootenai National Forest, the night skies in Utah’s Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and three great grey owls.
