It’s 1996 all over again, at least in its similarities to 2024 calendar
It’s a freaky twist to 2024 because the entire year will feel like one big party that already happened in the year 1996.
What does that mean exactly? Well, not only is 2024 a leap year, but the 2024 calendar year is an identical match to the 1996 calendar year, CBS 8 reported.
Considering both 2024 and 1996, there are some striking similarities between the two, where both years turned out to be presidential years.
Former President Bill Clinton came out on top, as we all know, beating former Sen. Bob Dole in the 1996 election. Additionally, both years are Olympic years, with Paris hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics, a far cry from when Atlanta hosted the event in 1996, ABC News reported.
The phenomenon has also spurred the rising sales of 1996 calendars that featured former models including Kathy Ireland and Pamela Anderson. The hot ticket items on websites such as eBay, are selling for as much as up to $200.
In 1996, “Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire” was released in theaters. Today, the 1996 Star Wars calendar is raking in bucks to the tune of $150.
The seven years that share the same calendar in the current 200-year time frame include 1940, 1968, 1996, 2024, 2052, 2080 and 2120, according to timeanddate.com.
