Tuesday, January 16The Mechanicsville TEA Party will be meeting on Jan. 16, 2024 at Freedom Services & Training, 6701 Cold Harbor Road in Mechanicsville across from Dollar General and not far from the Cold Harbor Road and Creighton Road traffic circle. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. We will have two (2) guest speakers this month. The first speaker will be the former president of Central Virginia No Left Turn In Education, Yael Levin. Based on her experience as a data analyst, Ms. Levin will provide a brief but thoughtful presentation about the overlooked and misunderstood lessons from the 2023 election results in Hanover County. Our second speaker will be Deb Giffin. She is the treasurer of the Virginia Tea Party and worked in both state and local government for many years before retiring. Ms. Giffin will give her insights on what to expect from this year’s session of the General Assembly which convenes January 10. Everyone is welcome to attend. The WEB of Hope meets from 10 a. m. to noon on the second Monday of each month at the Black Creek Baptist Church at 6289 McClellan Road in Mechanicsville. It is one of several groups in the Richmond area that crochets, knits, sews, and quilts gifts for the American Red Cross to distributed to those in need. Hanover Community Services Board wants you to know that if you are a family member or friend of someone who has a mental illness, you are not alone. There is support. Hanover Community Services Board offers a family support group on the second Wednesday of every month from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bell Creek location, 8475 Bell Creek Road in Mechanicsville. Facilitators Rebecca Strader and Heidi Brown invite you to attend this group that follows NAMI principles of confidentiality, respect, empathy and support to one another. The Hanover-Ashland TRIAD meets the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the new Atlee Library, 9212 Rutlandshire Drive, Mechanicsville. The Hanover-Ashland TRIAD is a program that focuses on providing information to seniors to improve their quality of life. The Community Salt Fish Breakfast is held at Enon UMC, 6156 Studley Road in Mechanicsille on the first Saturday of October-March, from 8-10 a.m. The Buffet Menu includes salt fish, scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, hash browns, corn cakes, biscuits, sausage gravy, apples, waffles, beverages and fellowship.
