Family welcomes the first baby born in 2024
Amanda and Miguel Terrazas started their new year with the gift of life. At 2:40 a.m. Jan. 1, they welcomed their fourth child to their family.
Amanda gave birth to her daughter Jocelyn at the start of 2024. She had been planning to spend the holiday with her family at home but baby Jocelyn wasn’t going to wait, Terrazas said.
“I wanted to stay home as long as possible with our three other kids and spend New Year’s Eve with them, but Jocelyn wasn’t going to wait any longer,” Terrazas said.
Their other three children are excited to have a new sibling in the family. Miguel Terrazas said Jocelyn is like his new little princess.
His wife works as a nurse at Citizens Medical Center in labor and delivery, so she knew there would be people she could trust around her while she was in labor.
They decided to go with the name Jocelyn for their new daughter because her mother’s name is Josephine.
“I thought it would be really cute to name her after my mom and call her baby Josie, but she still has her own name as well,” Terrazas said. “It was a great experience having Jocelyn here, and I’m really grateful for starting the new year off with a little blessing.”
Terrazas plans to spend a few weeks off of work while she cares for and bonds with Jocelyn before returning to work where she’ll help other women give birth to new babies.
