Married women celebrate Karadaiyan Nombu in order to wish their husbands wealth and a long life and unmarried women celebrate this day in order to get the desired husband. Kardaiyan Nombu 2024: Rituals 1. Women wake up early in the morning and observe strict fast on this day. 2. A unique naivedya called “Karadai Nombu Adai” is made on Karadaiyan Nombu. 3. According to mythological tales, Savitri cooked this unique dish and gave it, along with some unsalted butter, to Lord Yama, the Hindu God of Death to show the gratitude for saving her husband Satyvan’s life.4. Women worship Goddess Gauri and give her offerings of Karadaiyan Nombu Naivedyam.5. Chant various Vedic Mantras. 6. Women wear “Karadai Nombu Saradu,” or yellow-colored thread, around one’s neck is a major tradition on Karadaiyan Nombu. This yellow thread is also attached to a tiny flower.
