New edition of Tulsa Firefighter Calendar releases in support of nonprofit museum
TULSA, Okla. — The 2024 men’s Tulsa Firefighter Calendar is out now.
The people behind the calendar say it has become a tradition that helps raise money for the Tulsa Fire Museum which is a nonprofit.
An event was held Friday night to launch the calendar.
Firefighter Micheal Stout is Mr. September in the calendar.
“I’m the month of September. I love being in it it keeps me accountable for being fit every year,” said Stout. “I’m going to be working for probably 20 to 25 years and I want to do it every year if my career so I can look back on it one day and see myself get older.”
Stout says this is the fifth year he’s done the calendar and is one of 11 Tulsa firefighters starring in it.
Justin Potts is Mr. May and says this is the first time he’s done it.
Potts told FOX23 he didn’t tell many people that he was doing it and says his friends and family were surprised.
“You know a lot of surprise, because I’m not typically the one [who] would ever pick me to do something like this and I didn’t tell anybody,” said Potts.
The calendar is a Tulsa firefighting tradition and even though it’s a bit of fun, it raises money to help the Tulsa Fire museum that celebrates over 120 years of firefighting in Tulsa.
Amanda Dunn is on the museums board.
“I think it’s important for people to see the history of the Tulsa Fire Department. I mean, these are the guys out there keeping our city safe and our citizens safe. So I think it’s pretty important to show just how everything has evolved over the years,” said Dunn.
The calendar was launched with a meet and greet at Marshall Brewing in the Pearl District on Friday night.
Dunn says the calendar helps raise between $5,000-$10,000 for the museum every year and they have big plans.
“Our goal is to be able to open the museum to the public all the time. We have plans to build into the museum and have a children’s exhibit and be able to open up for acts of service and stuff like that,” said Dunn.
Stout says he’s glad he can support the museum.
“I’m just happy to be a part of that and helping to promote it,” said Stout.
The museum is planning to open once a month starting in the new year so people can see what it is that they do and find out their plans
